The Local Grocer

About our CSA

You are about to enjoy a summer’s worth of farm fresh produce at a fraction it would cost you at the supermarket.

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Interested customers purchase a share and in return receive a box of seasonal produce each week throughout the season. People from the community buy shares of a farm’s produce at the beginning of the growing season. By purchasing a share you are helping us so we can continue to grow fresh, local produce without the use of synthetic chemicals or pesticides. Each week you can look forward to the freshest and tastiest vegetables in town.

Our 2017 Summer CSA season runs 16 weeks, beginning early June (depending on the weather) and ends in October. Shares will be smaller early in the season and get larger as the season goes on. Shares are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  Pickup is either on Tuesday or Thursday at The Local Grocer from 4-8pm

A few good reasons to join:

·       We don’t use synthetic pesticides or fertilizer, to give you the healthiest food possible

·       We grow in Flint, so there are less fossil fuels used to produce your food

·       We pick it fresh, so it’s packed with maximum nutrition

·       Eating seasonally nourishes our bodies the way they were meant to be nourished

·       Through our website/blog we’ll share recipes and what’s happening on the farm

Produce exchange: This summer we will be working with other small local farms to share crops and other products at times when there an abundance at each farm. To this end, we hope to bring you a wider, even more nutritious, CSA share. Each farm is trading produce and products of equal value, throughout the season you may see something from another farm in your CSA share. We will only supply produce with farms that share the same growing practices.
